My name is Alan Morgan, and I am a Family Celebrant based in Broughty Ferry, Dundee but covering the Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire areas with my busy practice officiating ceremonies marking the most important moments in life.

I am also a TLC Marriage Officer and carry out legal marriage ceremonies under the auspices of TLC Faith anywhere in Scotland — believing in the founding principles of LOVE, KINDNESS and RESPECT.

I've been a family celebrant for over ten years now, with a background in personal therapy,  the motor industry and also music which I LOVE!

While conducting a wedding ceremony, vow renewal or funeral ceremony I'm always authentic, warm, charismatic, fun too if you want! — all with a very personal approach. I'll help you plan your special day with a ceremony that suits you and your family perfectly.

QUESTIONS

Is It Legal?

Absolutely! — I am an authorised TLC Marriage Officer and can both officiate and solemnise your wedding ceremony for you in Scotland.

Where Can I Get Married?

Anywhere in Scotland! — From beautiful hotels, local venues, fabulous beauty spots or even your garden shed! It's really that simple.

Where Do I Start?

Once you've decided on your wedding date and venue, get in touch with me and I'll keep you right through the whole ceremony process.

In the first instance we meet up, have a chat, complete some important particulars, pay your initial payment to secure your date and then you settle the balance three months before your wedding date to allow you to budget.

During our chat, I'll give you plenty of ideas and you can run anything past me you'd like to include as well. We'll meet up again later so I can get to know your story and how you'd like the ceremony to go!

How Much Does It Cost?

Please get in touch via the contact form or by giving me a ring / email, and I'll happily help with any enquiries around cost.

FUNERALS

A Personal Farewell

Making A Loved One's Farewell Unique...

I've been a family and funeral celebrant for over ten years now and with both funeral and memorial ceremonies, I like to make them warm, personal and authentic.

The circumstances around someone's passing often influence the feel and mood of a ceremony, however that said, celebrating a life is very much my way of thinking.

In essence, you can make a funeral or memorial ceremony as unique as we ourselves are and whether a tradition ceremony with hymns, or a celebratory ceremony full of humour and lovely stories — it's up to you.

There are times when this may be a bit more sensitive such as with infants and young people, or tragic times such as suicide and early illness. Again though, I'm always led by a family and will create a ceremony which best gives you the opportunity to make it special.

Most funeral directors in Dundee and surrounding areas will know me if you'd like to use me, just let them know to contact me. However you are welcome also to get in touch to see if I'm available, or even just for a chat.

QUESTIONS

How Do I Book You?

All you need to do is to pass my name and details to your funeral director. They will then contact me to check availability with me, and then appoint me officially. My fee is included in your funeral director costs. (see FEES)

You can also book me directly and settle any fees yourself should you wish to.

What Happens Next?

Once appointed by a funeral director or you yourself, I'll arrange to come and visit you at home or by video call if you are out of the area. This will be very informal to keep things relaxed.

Our visit will last around 1.5 hours, and during this visit we'll chat about the life of your loved one and I'll gather all the information I need to write a ceremony for them. You always approve the ceremony before I conduct it on the day.

Fees must be settled before the ceremony date unless booked through a funeral director.

Can I Speak During The Ceremony?

Yes of course! This can be a scary prospect, so I'll always need a copy of the exact words to be spoken, just so I'm prepared in case something goes wrong or someone needs help on the day.

MY BACKGROUND

Originally from Perth, Scotland, I moved to Dundee when I was in my early twenties. Now on the cusp of my 50th birthday, I have lived in Dundee ever since, a place I now consider my home.

My early working life began while helping in my Dad's retail business before starting out on my own journey in the retail motor industry, a career which ended in senior management running very successful after sales and service departments.

Since my very early years, music has been a huge part of my life. Music marks many milestones and moments in life, in mine it has been hugely influential. I've played the keyboard, the double manual organ and now the piano for over forty years.

Singing and entertaining became a passion of mine, which I continue to do during my spare time. I love to be involved in the emotion, escapism and fun music brings to my life and listening to all kinds of music keeps a huge smile on my face!

I have had interests in Japanese martial art Aikido throughout my earlier years, reading, developing myself and also being involved in many hobbies and interests. One of those interests grew from a turbulent childhood and adolescence.

My interest in self development and improvement came after dealing with some of my own challenges through hypnotherapy in my early teens. I later trained and qualified in psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy in the nineties and have since continued using these skills throughout my life benefiting both myself and others.

Celebrant work for me began in 2015 when I trained with the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants as a funeral celebrant. This was brought about after a hugely important person to me in life, saw the potential celebrant in me!

Ten years later, I haven't looked back and over the last decade I have helped my clients and local funeral directors deliver the most personal, authentic and best services I can during their time of need.

Although having conducted wedding ceremonies for a number of years, in August of this year, I completed my training as a TLC Faith Marriage Officer and now can legally solemnise and officiate marriage ceremonies in Scotland, previously relying on the registrar for the legal part of those ceremonies.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my close friends and family, playing the piano, listening to music, socialising and trying to enjoy a positive balance with my work and life while laughing and not taking myself too seriously. Everything I do, I do with heart and by being myself.

I'm always happy to blether away, please feel free to get in touch for a chat.

Alan
