CELEBRANCY

WEDDING - VOW RENEWAL - FUNERAL - NAMING

Welcome to my website!

My name is Alan Morgan, and I am a Family Celebrant based in Broughty Ferry, but covering the Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire areas with my busy practice officiating ceremonies marking the most important moments in life.

I am also a TLC Marriage Officer and carry out legal marriage ceremonies under the auspices of TLF Faith in Scotland — believing in love, kindness and respect while conducting and officiating marriage ceremonies with an authentic, warm and personal approach.

A Celebrant is an Officiant that carries out ceremonies for family occasions including:

  • Wedding / Marriage Ceremonies
  • Renewal Of Vows & Anniversary Ceremonies
  • Funeral, burial, memorial and interment of cremated remains ceremonies
  • Baby naming, child introduction, gender reveal and reassignment ceremonies

  • Big birthday occasions, free of illness and treatment celebrations

  • Master of Ceremonies for awards, achievements and after dinner speaking

All of the above are conducted in a way that warmly celebrates, tributes or gives a very person centred, unique approach to your special moments.

I’ve been a family and funeral celebrant now for ten years this year and have conducted over 3,500 ceremonies of all kinds and in all places for some wonderfully amazing, funny, strange, celebratory, themed and very happy occasions.

Over the years I have conducted many touching, humorous, unique or indeed very emotional and difficult ceremonies for families who have lost someone very special.

I have a vast background in helping people in a celebrant setting, during personal therapy for which I am also qualified and through my own interesting journey and adventure through my 48 years so far!

Everything I do is with a very personal, tailored and bespoke approach. I love to laugh, bring warmth and humour where appropriate, but most of all help to bring a very authentic feel to my work for you.

Please do get in touch with me using the contact form or my details below. I'm always happy to help guide you in the right way. With Funeral Ceremonies, you can also pass my name and details to your funeral director and they will arrange everything for you.

I'm always happy to help.

Best wishes,
Alan

BACKGROUND

I am originally from Perth, Scotland and moved to Dundee when I was in my early twenties and have lived in Dundee for twenty five years now — a place I now consider my home.

My early working life began while helping in my Dad's retail business before starting out on my own journey in the retail motor industry, a career which ended in senior management running very successful after sales and service departments.

Since my very early years, music has been a huge part of my life. Music marks many milestones and moments in life, in mine it has been hugely influential. I've played the keyboard, the double manual organ and now the piano for over forty years.

Singing and entertaining became a passion of mine, which I continue to do during my spare time. I love to be involved in the emotion, escapism and fun music brings to my life and listening to all kinds of music keeps a huge smile on my face!

I have had interests in Japanese martial art Aikido throughout my earlier years, reading, developing myself and also being involved in many hobbies and interests. One of those interests grew from a turbulent childhood and adolescence.

My interest in self development and improvement came after a very successful experience dealing with some of my own early challenges through hypnotherapy in my early teens. I later trained and qualified in psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy in the late nineties and have since continued using these skills throughout my life benefiting both myself and others (see further down).

Celebrant work for me began in 2015 when I trained with the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants as a funeral celebrant. This was brought about after a hugely important person to me in life, saw the potential celebrant in me!

Ten years later, I haven't looked back and over the last decade I have helped my clients and local funeral directors deliver the most personal, authentic and best services I can during their time of need.

In August of this year, I completed my training as a TLC Faith Marriage Officer and now solemnise and officiate marriage ceremonies in Scotland based on love, kindness and respect.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my close friends and family, playing the piano, listening to music, socialising and trying to enjoy a positive balance with my work and life while laughing and not taking myself too seriously. Everything I do, I do with heart and by being myself.

I'm always happy to blether away, please feel free to get in touch for a chat.

Alan

(INTERESTS & EXPERIENCES WITH PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT)

I've always been fascinated by the ability of the human race to improve themselves and with my own journey in life, and the help I received with hypnotherapy as a young teenager, it became a huge hobby and passion of mine.

An early inspiration came from Paul McKenna in the early nineties, who I’m very grateful to have trained with through many online training webinars, and also personally earlier in 2025. He, and also Richard Bandler, one of the founders of NLP and pioneers of modern hypnosis have been instrumental in fuelling my years of knowledge in hypnosis and personal change therapy.

I graduated in June 1996 when I qualified as the youngest member of the National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists under the expert watchful eye of Mrs Vicki Watson, through the Twa Acres Hypnotherapy Training Centre in Blairgowrie. Vicki changed my life and continues to be a huge inspiration in my life.

I have also trained with British Hypnosis Research in London under the renowned Ericksonian Hypnotherapist Stephen Brooks at the Royal Masonic Hospital in Hammersmith, London and completed countless refresher and CPD training in all areas of hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP including past life regression, psychoanalysis, hypo-analysis, stage and street hypnosis, grief and bereavement and many other areas including with the Open University.

I hold the senior qualification in hypnotherapy awarded by the General Hypnotherapy Register and General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. My training in psychotherapy and counselling was conducted under the auspices of the National Council for Psychotherapy and the Institute of Complimentary Medicine and their later formations. I continue to offer these during my practice.

I’ve also lectured for the NHS, demonstrating to medical staff and doctors the efficacy of hypnosis and the power we have over our own minds for pain management, healing and the physiology of the body. I have conducted countless workshops in relaxation, stress management, hypnotherapy and confidence building for performance and also training days, along with years of individual appointments with clients.
